Getting away from it all in Honolulu has never been easier, thanks to the current hotel trends there.  Whether you seek beachfront relaxation or a retreat into the canopies, the city continues to be one of Hawaii’s top destinations.  Romance, business, surfing, or simple pleasure are all strong draws for visitors to the area. By the main beaches, you’ll find a number of all inclusive resorts that promise pampering and nightly entertainment.  If organized activities for you or your family are an interest, you’ll want to stay here.  These kinds of properties offer support for Honolulu tours, water sports, and other bookable activities.

On the other end of the spectrum are hotels so small they are really barely more than second bedrooms or caretaker’s homes.  Distinctly Hawaiian, these super boutiques may only host 4 – 6 guests at a time.  While there are some traditional amenities, the overall vibe is much more like staying with a friend of the family while you are on vacation, and those who like a quiet retreat or cultural immersion will likely enjoy these properties more.

During the winter months, Iron Man Marathon, or the surf competitions, it can be a challenge to find rooms on short notice, so you’ll want to book well in advance.  Honolulu is on an island, after all, so there is a firm limit on capacity.  However, this limit also ensures that even if you are not in a main zone, you are never far from the attractions.

Prices fluctuate quite a bit between the seasons and between the property levels.  All inclusive resorts can be around $200+ per night in peak season, and the super boutiques run the gamut.  However, shoulder season and off season travelers will be able to enjoy deep discounts as all classes of hotel strive to keep up their occupancy rates.
