Chamonix is undoubtedly one of the most popular regions in France for skiing and thus is experiencing a huge surge in the numbers of people that visit the region every single year. Situated in the Rhone-Alpes region and encompassing Mont Blanc, Chamonix is breathtakingly beautiful all year round and ideal for travel during summer and winter alike. However, before you can stay there you have to find the right Chamonix hotels or other forms of accommodation for you.

Chamonix hotels, apartments and chalets are all a little on the expensive side, but no more than you would expect in any other skiing region around the world. A room at one of the more basic Chamonix hotels can be booked for EUR 60 per person per night. However, the more expensive hotels are only a little more luxurious and go for a little over EUR 125 per night so there is little difference. Most have the same excellent facilities for guests, such as gyms, spas and a full menu to remain competitive so you can expect to be well looked after.

Hotel Le Labrador
101 Route Du Golf, 74400 Chamonix

Blending Scandinavian and Savoyard architecture, the Hotel Le Labrador provides you with a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The Hotel Le Labrador offers fully equipped rooms with private balcony. All the rooms are equipped with en suite facilities and present cosy living spaces decorated in a classic chalet style.

Situated 250 metres from the Flegère ski lift, the Hotel Le Labrador benefits from a privileged location for accommodating ski enthusiasts. Also, ski passes can be purchased directly at the reception. After a busy day of excursions and outdoor activities, guests can relax in Le Labradors spa and enjoy the hammam, Jacuzzi, massage lounge and beauty salon.

Located adjacent to the hotel is La Cabane des Praz, a restaurant that features traditional and regional mountain cuisine in a warm, traditional atmosphere.

Hotel des Lacs
992 Route Des Gaillands, 74400 Chamonix Mont Blanc

Open since 1930, the Hotel Des Lacs welcomes guests in both winter and summer and offers quality accommodation in a family atmosphere.

Located just 1.5 kilometres from the centre of Chamonix, near the lake of Gaillands, the hotel provides the perfect base for skiers and mountain lovers alike as the mountains and ski slopes are easily accessible from the hotel. All 23 guestrooms have been recently renovated to offer guests comfortable living spaces. Some rooms offer wonderful views of the natural setting surrounding the hotel.

Guests are welcome to relax on the hotel’s sunny terrace which faces Mont Blanc and enjoy a drink from the bar.

Wi-Fi internet access is available in the hotel. There are also free buses and trains that offer direct access to the ski slopes.
330 Rue du Lyret, 74400 Chamonix

Set at the foot of the Aiguille du Midi Mountain, near the city centre and the train station, this charming hotel features comfortable rooms and an outdoor swimming pool.

The friendly Oustalet offers well equipped rooms, which all boast a private balcony facing the Mont Blanc Mountain.

The generous buffet breakfast served every morning will set you up for a day on the slopes. After a day skiing, you can unwind in the Oustalet’s lounge bar.

In summer, laze by the outdoor swimming pool or in the pretty garden. In the winter period only, guests have access to a Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam.

However, most visitors choose not to stay in a Chamonix hotel but instead prefer to rent out a chalet or apartment with friends for the duration of their stays. For between EUR 1000 and EUR 1250, you can access a luxury chalet with all the mod cons that you would expect, including TV, WiFi Internet access, a fully fitted kitchen and so on. It can work out much cheaper to split the cost like this. There are plenty of them around but the prices are higher during the skiing season than at other times of the year and it does vary literally from week to week so check the cost and book in advance.

Most Chamonix hotels are within walking distance of the slopes and other attractions. Les Houches is perhaps the best area to stay in but Chamonix valley is also desirable. Both are incredibly popular though so check out your options first.
